The Office of the Provincial Advisor for Aboriginal Supported Child Development Programs managed the development of the ASCDP Practice Guidelines 2017 Manual, which was the result of over a year’s worth of collaboration, with the ASCD Working Group consisting primarily of Indigenous service providers and subject matter experts. - SCD Provincial Policy was a commitment under the 2012/2013 Operational and Strategic Directional Plan of the Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD). The policy revisions were led by MCFD with significant collaboration with IDP and SCDP/ASCDP coordinators and consultants and the CYSN Policy team. The overarching purpose of the SCDP Policies is to ensure that policies for Supported Child Development (SCD) programs are current, evidence-based, and meet the ministry’s standards for policies, standards and guidelines. ASCD consultants participated extensively in the development of the SCD program policy in order to ensure that the importance of culturally safe and appropriate services is embedded in SCD policy. ASCD programs may use the SCD policy as a reference for their practice.
